Think “Up”, Not just “out”

Is your cat persistent about jumping on your counters? Same! Until I found what she was actually in need of. She just wanted visibility, and a space where the dog couldn't get to her. They love each other, but she just needs a break sometimes!
Cats instinctively crave the ability to see their surroundings to ensure their safety. It doesn't mean they don’t trust you, it’s just in their nature to see for themselves. Because they’re so small compared to our human items blocking their view, they need to get vertical. This can look like a tall cat tree, window perch, or designated furniture item they’re allowed on. Giving them the ability to see out a window is ideal because it doubles as mental enrichment for them to observe the outside world.
I had a cat tree that was about waist high when I first got my cat, but the dog was tall enough to just hop his paws up and disturb her whenever he wanted. It didn’t help that they were both so young and playful at the time.
It wasn’t until I moved into a smaller space that we thought to give her more upward space than spreading out, since our outward space was shrinking. I found an amazing space-saving cat tree/litter box combo! It made her cat tree taller than before so now the dog can’t reach her unless she wants him to, and keeps the litter box out of sight. Much more aesthetic! Plus, the smell is reduced being more enclosed. It’s truly a win-win-win with this genius invention - https://amzn.to/3Po7JuF
