Help With Separation Anxiety

Do you or your dog struggle with separation anxiety while away from each other? You’re definitely not alone. While there are many reasons your pup may experience heightened anxiety while you’re away, it’s tough to know for each individual dog what is happening for them, and therefore how to help them.

Lucky for you, modern technology helps with this issues significantly! Think baby monitor, but for your fur baby instead.

I have a Smart Pet Camera (https://amzn.to/42SNyYM) for my home that has not only helped me understand my dog’s behaviors better, but has also calmed a lot of my own nerves about leaving him home alone. He always seemed so stressed when I was left home, but it turns out he just takes a good nap after a few minutes of looking out the window. I never would’ve known this had I not had a camera that I could monitor from my phone.

As for the more anxious types, you may be struggling with chewing, scratching, barking, etc. A camera will help you understand if these behaviors are triggered by something, how long they can be left alone before panicking, if providing mental stimulation helps or is completely ignored, etc.. All of this information is so beneficial to have when figuring out how to keep your dog calm when separated.

From there, you can try different calming techniques (to be elaborated on in future blog posts), or bring this information to a trainer for further assistance!
